We’re so proud of our amazing parents of Parent Voices Marin!

On Thursday, June 23, Parent Voices Marin received the “COVID Child Care and Parent Support” award from First 5 Marin. It was part of the event, “Celebrating Immigrants in Marin: from Pandemic Recovery to Thriving in 2022 & Beyond.” First 5 Marin honored several agencies & programs that supported immigrants during the pandemic.

“I definitely felt honored,” said PV Marin Parent Organizer Bris Saligan. “We receive a small grant each year from First 5 Marin, so knowing that they see and value or work does makes me continue to work harder.”

The fact that they acknowledge that immigrants are a big part of our community and were impacted the most during the pandemic, and all the different agencies coming together to see what else can we do for them makes us want to continue thriving.”

Amarantha Silva, Parent Leader for PV Marin, was at the event to accept the award alongside Bris. Amarantha described a spirit of support and collaboration. “I’m glad that they recognized the effort and support of Parent Voices during COVID to our families, most of them families of color and immigrants.”

It was beautiful and inspiring see a room full of people willing to help and support our immigrants.

“It was a great opportunity to partner with them in the future. Most important was seeing our parents there showing love and support to Bris and PV, feeling and knowing that each of them is part of it,” said Amarantha.

Congratulations, Parent Voices Marin! Our chapters across the state are shining bright. And we are so proud to see you get recognized!
