SACRAMENTO, CA — Parent Voices CA demands the immediate release of SEIU-CA President David Huerta and condemns the unlawful militarization happening across our state. On Friday, David was injured and arrested as he stood up for immigrant workers during an ICE raid in Los Angeles—another blatant attempt to silence American labor leaders and immigrant communities.
President Trump is using California’s largest city as a political prop. Meanwhile, immigrants and the children of immigrants are the backbone of California’s economy, comprising more than half of our workforce. Without immigrants, California would not be the fourth-largest economy in the world. An attack on California immigrants is an attack on all of America.
The strength of Parent Voices lies in the diversity of our organization. We stand in solidarity with our immigrant communities. We will not be intimidated. We urge California employers and state-elected leaders to demand the release of the dozens of unsung political prisoners who were arrested this weekend after exercising their right to peacefully protest.
