About Us

Empowering Parents, Building Stronger Communities: Our Mission

Parent Voices Marin is a proud chapter of Parent Voices California, an advocacy organization dedicated to securing affordable, high-quality child care and early education for all families. As a grassroots organization, we empower parents to voice their needs, advocate for systemic change, and create lasting solutions that strengthen families and communities in Marin County and beyond.

At Parent Voices Marin, we share the vision of Parent Voices California: a future where all families, regardless of race, income, or background, have access to affordable, high-quality child care and early education that supports their economic stability and overall well-being. Our mission is to empower parents to advocate for the changes they need to thrive, from child care affordability to immigrant rights and child care workforce development .

We believe that every parent deserves to choose child care that supports their family’s needs and every child should have the opportunity to grow, learn, and succeed. Parent Voices Marin works to engage and educate parents, amplify their voices in policy discussions, and lead systemic change that benefits families at the local, state, and federal levels. We are committed to creating a more equitable, accessible, and sustainable child care system that supports families, providers, and communities across Marin and beyond.

Our Work & Impact

What We Do

Our chapter organizes parents to be powerful advocates at the local, state, and federal levels. From navigating child care systems to engaging in policy reform, we equip parents with the tools they need to lead and make change. Through our work on key issues, including immigrant rights, child care affordability, and workforce development for child care providers, Parent Voices Marin is helping families achieve better futures.

As a leader in the Parent Voices Immigration Committee (PVIC), we also focus on justice for immigrant families, advocating for policies like unemployment benefits for excluded workers and a just immigration reform through coalitions such as SafetyNet4All and the Northern California Coalition for Just Immigration Reform.

 Advocating for Child Care Affordability

The high cost of child care is one of the most significant barriers for families in Marin County. Parent Voices Marin is committed to ensuring that all families have access to affordable and high-quality child care options. We work closely with policymakers to increase funding for child care programs, reduce financial burdens on families, and improve access to services. Through our advocacy efforts, we are pushing for systemic reforms that make child care a sustainable option for every family.

Supporting Immigrant Families and Workers

As part of the PVIC, we are deeply involved in advocating for immigrant rights. Parent Voices Marin is a proud member of the SafetyNet4All Coalition, which fights for unemployment benefits for workers excluded from relief programs. We also work with the Northern California Coalition for Just Immigration Reform to advance fair and humane immigration policies. Our efforts focus on ensuring that immigrant families, regardless of status, are treated with dignity and have access to the support and protections they deserve.

Strengthening the Child Care Workforce

The success of our child care systems depends on the people who provide care. Parent Voices Marin advocates for policies that improve wages, offer professional development, and enhance the support available to child care providers. By investing in the workforce, we ensure that providers can continue to offer high-quality care, while also helping families rely on a well-supported system that meets their needs.
